You'll decide what a eight-room estate in Chikmanglur sounds like across the board and figure out how to
get someone in Bangalore to actually drive there.
Reports to: Founders Level: Senior Individual Contributor/Leadership Hire
What the role is
You're the one person who owns marketing at Almanac, top to bottom. Not just posting nice photos, deciding our brand voice, closing the right partnerships, running events that build a following in the city, and making sure our ad spend is actually bringing in bookings instead of just impressions. If it's marketing at Almanac, it eventually lands on your desk.
Our biggest challenge isn't making our properties look good, they already do. It's that we're operating in a competitive space. There are a lot of boutique stays competing for the same attention, and it's easy for a guest to book us once, have a lovely time, and then never think of us again the next time they're planning a trip. Standing out, staying visible, and giving people a real reason, real experiences, not just a nice room, to come back to an Almanac property instead of trying somewhere new is a big part of what you're solving for.
Eligibility & Skills
• Setting Almanac's brand voice and holding the line on it, we’d rather sound like ourselves than sound like every other "boutique stay" account out there
• Finding and closing brand collaborations and partnerships that genuinely fit us
• Running our LinkedIn and founder-facing content — think real voice, not corporate updates
• Directing how our properties look and feel across every channel, without every page looking identical
• Overseeing our Google/Meta ad spend through an agency partner, making sure it's converting to real bookings
• Leading the Marketing Manager and the wider content team, setting priorities and keeping quality high
• Building city-based events, meet-ups, and loyalty ideas that turn "I follow Almanac" into "I just booked a weekend at their place"
How we'll know it's working
• Direct bookings growing, and less reliance on OTAs
• Real partnerships getting signed, not just talked about
• At least one city-based initiative each quarter that visibly pulls people toward a property
• The team under you shipping consistently
What we're looking for
• 4-6 years in marketing with real hands-on experience across brand and campaigns, not just strategy slides
• Hospitality, travel, F&B, or lifestyle brand background, you should already get why we're allergic to phrases like "nestled amidst nature"
• Some experience directing or briefing someone else's work, even informally
• A portfolio you're genuinely proud of, and ready to talk through why it worked
• An actual opinion on why someone should travel four hours for a homestay instead of booking a five-star in the city
This probably isn't your role if
• You've only ever executed someone else's brand strategy and have never had to defend your own calls
• Your instinct is to make things look like a five-star hotel brochure, half our value is in not looking like that
• You've never managed a budget or been the one held accountable when a number didn't move
